New Year's Eve 1995

While many people were preparing for their New Year's Eve parties, I chose to visit one of my favorite spots in the Bay Area, Berkeley's Indian Rock Park. When I start feeling sick of dealing with all of the hassles of living in an urban area that is home to almost seven million people, I visit this rock outcropping to remind myself why I live here.

After a relatively cold, damp, and grey two week period, the final day of 1995 was a wondrously clear one, one which ended with just enough clouds in the sky to provide probably the best sunset of the year.

As nice as the view of the Golden Gate and Mt. Tamalpais was as the sun was setting, the colors really became amazing about thirty minutes after sunset--at about the time I ran out of film. The long exposure time for the image enhanced the colors dramatically.

Film: Agfa High Definition Color, ASA 200. Exposures: 1/125s @ f16 (first), 1/125s @ f22 (second), 4s @ f22 (last).
