Mornings are a magical time in Yosemite Valley.
During the time I was in the valley, afternoons meant smog caused by controlled burns both in and around Yosemite Valley. While this created some extremely colorful sunsets, it also meant yellow skies from midday on, as well as air dirtier than any I've breathed in Los Angeles or San Jose.
This image was taken from one of the switchbacks on the four-mile trail to Glacier Point, at about 10am. There's just a touch of mist in the trees (lower center), with smoke from a controlled burn behind Cathedral Rocks (left) wafting at higher levels. El Capitan provides the right side.
This is a heavily-cropped image. You can find an uncropped color image here; let me know which you like better.
