October in Yosemite is much like October in the rest of central and northern California--warm and, for the most part, bone dry. Yosemite is no different; indeed, aside from the evergreens and the vegetation growing along the banks of the streams and rivers, there wasn't a lot of greenery, and you couldn't help but kick up a cloud of dust when hiking mountain or meadow trails.
Given this, I was surprised to find these little lavender-colored flowers growing alongside meadow trails throughout the valley.
