I took two versions of this particular scene. The first one used a polarizer to emphasize the sky effects around Half Dome; the second one emphasized the reflections off of the Merced River. The first approach only worked if I cropped out most of the river, which would have defeated the purpose of the image in the first place--to catch the wonderful reflection on this relatively slow-moving section of the Merced.
